Board of Directors

Shawn Cory

President

Shawn Cory is the president of the Fontana POA which is a professional police union that seeks to attract and retain the best officers for Fontana PD so you get the best and most professional service possible.

Shawn was raised in the Inland Empire and attended local schools including Chaffey college. He is a graduate of the Los Angeles Police Academy, Class 11-2011. After two years of service, he laterally transferred to Fontana PD in 2013.

He is currently assigned as a motorcycle officer where he works traffic problems throughout the city.

He is also a member of the select Major Accident Investigation Team which is composed of highly trained officers who have developed expertise in examining multiple disciplinary factors that may contribute to an incident, including environmental, human, and mechanical.

Matt
Rodgers

Vice President

Matt Rodgers was raised in the Inland Empire and attended local schools. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and graduated from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Academy in 2014.

He was sworn-in as a Fontana Police Officer in September 2014, and has spent his entire law enforcement career with Fontana PD.

His assignments include Patrol, the Rapid Response Team, and he held the prestigious position of Tac-Officer at the Sheriff’s Academy.  He is currently assigned to the Investigations Unit as a Detective.

In his off-duty time he is an avid outdoorsman and off-road enthusiast. Since becoming a police officer, he has always been a volunteer in helping feed our community at Fontana POA sponsored barbecues and at breakfasts prepared for families at Ronald McDonald House Loma Linda.

Throughout his school years he never liked bullies. He was known for standing up for people who were being bullied. He said, “When I began looking into a career in law enforcement, I recognized that a criminal was no different than a bully. Criminals victimize and take advantage of those they perceive as being weaker than them, which is unacceptable to me.”

Matt joined the Fontana Police Department because(1) it has the reputation of taking a proactive approach to suppress crime in the community, (2) its dedication to safeguarding the citizens, and (3) supporting and standing behind the police officers.

Matt added, “The citizens of Fontana are generous, kind, friendly, and proud of their city and livelihood. I have been honored to support and continue to advance what the City of Fontana and Fontana PD stand for and will continue to safeguard those in our community from those who seek to harm them.”
